For further research

For further research, I would like to firstly recommend a chapter from the book called Beauty. The book is written by Mavis Henriques and Debasis Patnaik and the chapter is named Social Media and its Effects on Beauty. In this chapter, the authors introduce various perspectives of media's effect on beauty and collect a review of the literature on how social media influences beauty trends, body image, and self-esteem issues.

Because the impact of media on mental health is not only the case of women but men as well, I decided to share this article that is mainly focused on boys. It is important to be aware of men's insecurities too and this article is a great explanation.

The last article I have chosen is from Forbes. I have chosen this article because I think it is very well-written and it perfectly relates to this issue. The author talks about all the problems associated with unrealistic beauty standards such as body dysmorphia, filtres, surgeries, appearance expectations, and many more.
